Transition Time

Hello,

When I started this blog, it was to act as an online journal to document my experiences as an au pair for myself and my friends back home. I have done some inner reflection and have accepted that my experiences as an au pair are now some what limited and it would be natural for my blog to transition just like I have.

I am still working as an au pair in Long Island, however my weekends and free time will be spent preparing to move to Michigan, moving into my first home with Stephen and planning a wedding!

The transition will be exciting and I cannot wait to start and share the experiences with everyone.

I will officially launch my new blog "http://appleblossomliving.blogspot.com/" within the next couple weeks!

The Perfect Proposal

I know that everyone wants to know the details of how the Boy proposed so here they are...

Michigan has started to feel like home since I have been visiting a lot, it's where Stephen's family are, I have spent three holidays there now and I agreed to move there before we got engaged. However it needed a moment to cement that it was home and the proposal definitely did that.

I flew into Michigan on Saturday morning and spent the morning with Stephen's mom as he was flying in from Nashville at 11:30. We spent doing what all girls love to do - shop! It was a lot of fun and I was spoiled rotten!

Once Stephen flew in we went to lunch with his mom and then just spent the rest of the day relaxing. We decided on a casual date night at one of our favorite sushi restaurants. Once I was all ready to leave and was grabbing my jacket (Michigan can you warm up please), I turned around to ask Stephen to hold my handbag and he seemed a little nervous and next minute he said was telling me how much he loved me and wanted to be with me whilst still holding my handbag.

After subtly placing my handbag on the floor and getting down on one knee with tears streaming down my face, I was able to answer yes to the most amazing question he has ever asked me.

Once all the crying and kissing was over, I fixed my make up (basically redid it) and then celebrated with a wonderful dinner in Ferndale.

Just a thank you to all the love and support we have received it's absolutely amazing!

I can now also officially announce that I will be moving to Michigan once my contract with my wonderful host family is done๐Ÿ’•

We are getting married!

My last trip to Michigan was simply my favorite one!

The Boy proposed and I said YES! So we are getting married!

Proposal details to follow.

Easter Weekend in Michigan

I'm The holidays away from home are always bittersweet, however this Easter was thankfully made easier by being able to celebrate in Michigan with Stephen's wonderful family!

I flew in on Thursday night and was treated to a wonderful dinner in Royal Oak with the most amazing boy and just love getting to spend time together doing normal couple things like dinner in the week.

Ann Arbor is an area of Michigan about 45 minutes from Detroit and is home to the University of Michigan and Stephen's new job so on Friday we decided to head out there for a drive and dinner together!

Saturday and Sunday were spent celebrating Easter with Stephens family which are always a treat and special:)

What a wonderful weekend! I am looking forward to spending the week with the kiddies as it is Spring Break!

New Beginnings

Well it's been an amazing two weeks! I took the plunge and decided to leave Brooklyn and move to Long Island and wow it has been phenomenonal.

The concept of leaving and entering rematch (as an au pair you would have two weeks to find a new family or return to your home country) was an extremely daunting one. It can either be amazing or awful and thankfully mine has been amazing!

My new host family have been absolutely amazing and welcoming and I could not have been luckier! I am fortunate enough to still be able to make a trip to Michigan ever other weekend or have the boy come to Long Island in addition to having cultural experiences unique to America when I am here.

During my first weekend with the family we went Upstate and I was fortunate to experience West Point in the company of two ex military personnel which was unique and insightful!

West Point is spectacular and basically a world within boundaries complete with a football stadium, train station and even a bowling alley!

I was able to visit Michigan this part weekend and it just keeps getting better!

All in all - I undoubtedly made the best decision to move and I cannot wait to see what adventures await me and my new host family! ๐Ÿ’œ
