Christmas Eve & Christmas
I
always knew this was going to be the hardest time during my first couple of weeks in the States as this is the period of the year that is mostly about family and being with people you love.
My host family were so great today in making sure that I had the best Christmas although I was with my family in South Africa. It all started with a wonderful Christmas Eve at the local chapel where the boys sang Christmas Carols which was beyond stunning!
When we got back from Carols, my host mom, older daughter and I cooked up dinner which was so much as I felt like I was at home cooking which is my favourite role to play during holidays or special occasions. Dinner was a great hit and a huge success:) A very competitive game of foosball rounded out a good evening.
Christmas Morning started with a skype session with my mom which was the best as I was able to see her smile and laugh which made me happy. Once everyone was awake we proceeded to open presents which was great to see as the kids were so happy. I was also treated to a stunning travel wrap/scarf and a set of two great cookbooks.
Once presents were done, a breakfast of waffles, avo's and "momelette" was served and really filled the hole and then some!!
Family arrived and more presents were exchanged and then Christmas dinner was ready after lazying about. Dinner was yummy and dessert was so good, if only I could have finished it.
Christmas has come and gone and although I missed my family extra today, it was a good day.
Christmas Eve and Christmas in visuals... (I even included a shameless selfie)
