Weekend Trip To Long Island

This past weekend I took a train trip to Long Island to visit Steph, a friend that I made following our 35 hour trip from South Africa to New York, who stays in Long Island.

It continues to amaze me how easy it is to travel within the States, a 10 minute trip on the subway, followed by an hour and 22 minute train trip with one transfer and just like that I was in Long Island. I was staying with host family so the trip started with meeting her family followed shortly by a trip to the mall. I must admit I have missed shopping in a shopping centre. We had mani's and then did some shopping including doing the self check at Target.

We had dinner at Chipotle which was the only burrito I have had that I have enjoyed but purely because I could opt for no beans or rice. We then went bowling which was a fun way to end the night.

On Sunday, we went to the Holocaust Museum which was insight and it felt appropriate to take in a cultural experience. Lunch was more of a late brunch at this really quaint cafe with two other au pairs from Long Island.

Before I knew it, I was on the train back to Brooklyn. It was a great weekend and another place to tick off the list of places visited and memories made.

The weekend in visuals...
